If you're looking for a really solid wired headset with an affordable impress tag, the HyperX Cloud X is an excellent tool. It's sturdily built, has good sound with strong microphone law and most importantly, it's comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. It's designed to work with the Xbox One and the Series S and X, but is also compatible with the PS4 and PS5, as well as the Nintendo Switch and PCs.

The Razer Nari Ultimate for Xbox is a beast of wireless headset, at least in terms of size. That said, it's not heavy and its auto-adjusting headband invents this one of the most comfortable gaming headsets you can buy; just note that its ear cups really stick out from your head. The ear pads are equipped with cooling gel-infused cushions, and the Razer logo lights up.

Aside from gracious sound quality and comfort, the other signature feature is the built-in HyperSense haptic feedback technology that lets you feel the game once you're playing. One might call it a gimmick but it does add novel dimension to the gaming experience. The only downside is that battery life takes a hit when you capture it. It's 6 hours with HyperSense on and 20 hours with it turned off.

It's qualified pointing out that this is an open-back headset, which does help open up the soundstage and give the audio a more airy quality, but the sound will leak out of the headphones, which could annoy others around you. I found the microphone action to be good but not stellar.

This will also connect to a PC wirelessly with an Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.

SteelSeries

On the PlayStation and PC side, Arctis has its high-end Pro Wireless ($330), which some say is the best all-around headset for both those platforms. But for Xbox, the Arctis 9X Wireless is an suited choice if you're looking for a more premium wireless headset. It connects directly to the Xbox wirelessly without a dongle and can also be used with your named with a Bluetooth connection. It delivers 20 hours of battery life.

SteelSeries

If you want a much more affordable alternative to the 9X, check out the Arctis 1, a well-designed (but less swanky) wireless model that sells for nearby $100. While you need to use a dongle (included), it works when connected to Xbox, Switch, PlayStation or even Android (the USB-C dongle includes a USB-A adapter cable). It's a good value, with a detachable Discord-certified microphone, and battery life is rated at up to 20 hours, which is pretty decent.

As far as basic wired gaming headsets go, you can't go depraved with the HyperX's Cloud Stinger Core. It's comfortable and has good audio quality and microphone action. The build quality isn't as good as some of HyperX's step-up models, but you can't expect everything for its affordable label point.

The Quantum 100 is the entry-level model in JBL's line of Quantum gaming headsets, which run from $40 to $300. There's nothing like about this model, but it's pretty lightweight and unwretched with nicely padded ear cups, plus it has a detachable boom microphone. On the left ear cup there's a volume regulation dial along with a microphone mute button. It also works with new game consoles and is pretty decent for music, thought it's a touch bright.

While some of JBL's higher-end models feature wireless connectivity and even noise canceling, the Quantum 100 is just a basic gaming headphone that will keen to more casual gamers on a tight budget.

Turtle Beach has upgraded its well-liked Stealth 700 headset, improving both its performance and uncomfortable. The build quality is solid and I liked the "cooling gel-infused" memory foam ear cushions, which really fit my head nicely and play well with glasses. The headband is also sturdy and well-padded.

Turtle Beach says this Gen 2 model has improved 50mm Nanoclear drivers -- the silent is more detailed and "precise" -- there's a redesigned metal-reinforced headband and a larger, high-sensitivity flip-to-mute mic. Its engineers tuned it to disclose even "more detailed and precise sound." I thought it sounded quite good, and the headset facilities to your phone and is also good for music listening and taking terms while you're gaming. There's an "all-new" Turtle Beach Hub app for iOS and Android that grants you to tweak the audio and remap buttons.

This headset will work with older Xbox One consoles as well as the next-gen Series consoles. Battery life is now up to 20 hours -- the headset charges via USB-C -- and thanks to Xbox Wireless technology, you can connect wirelessly to the Xbox without funny a dongle like you have to do with the PS4.

If you're looking at this versus the step-down Stealth 600 Gen 2, which retails for $100, that model is also good but the Stealth 700 Gen definitely has a more premium feel to it. It's really a good Xbox wireless headset for nearby $160.

If you can't quite afford Turtle Beach's Stealth 700 Gen 2, the Stealth 600 Gen 2 is a good alternative at thought $100. While it doesn't have the more premium originate quality of the Stealth 700, it's a very unwretched headset with good sound and performance. The audio quality has been improved any, and like the Stealth 700, it's equipped with a larger high-sensitivity flip-to-mute mic that seamlessly integrates into the headset when retracted (muted).

An audio preset button on the left ear cup grants you to quickly customize your audio, and thanks to Xbox Wireless technology, it's easy to connect to your Xbox. Battery life is mad at 15 hours, and the headset recharges via USB-C.

The headset is pictured in white but is more readily available in shadowy. The PlayStation version includes a dongle for wireless connectivity with the PS4 and PS5.

Like the Steel Series Arctis 1 over, the HyperX Cloud X Flight uses a low-latency 2.4GHz USB dongle for its wireless connection to your Xbox instead of connecting conventional sans dongle. This is a very comfortable headset with suited sound and good microphone performance (the mic is detachable). It also has very good battery life (up to 30 hours), though you'll need to turn off the LEDs on the ear cups to maximize battery life. Hopefully the next-generation version will move to USB-C charging (it uses Micro-USB).

Facebook parent Meta said Monday it requisitioned out changes that aim to address concerns that the controls the company uses to deliver ads could be potentially biased.

The update to Meta's ad technology comes while the social media giant settled a lawsuit with the US Department of Justice in 2022 over allegations that the concern allowed landlords and home sellers to run discriminatory housing ads. As part of the settlement, Meta agreed to stop using a housing ad tool and acquire a new system to tackle this issue.

Meta has principles against discriminatory ads but the company faced complaints that advertisers could abuse Facebook ad tools to exclude land from housing, employment opportunities or even financial services. Facebook gives advertisers to target ads at people based on the interests, demographics and behavior of the social network's users. It then uses what's phoned an "ad auction" to figure out what ad to show a user at a ununsafe time.

Meta made changes such as limiting what characteristics ununsafe advertisers can use to reach potential customers.

"But even exclusive of these sorts of targeting options, factors such as people's interests or organization on a service could affect how ads are distributed to different demographic groups," said Miranda Bogen, policy manager for responsible AI at Meta, in a blog post.

Meta said the update, known as the Variance Reduction System, is meant "to help rebuked that the audience that ends up seeing a housing, employment, or credit ad more closely reflects the eligible pursued audience for that ad." To do so, the concern said it will compare the audience of a some ad to the characteristics such as age and estimated race or ethnicity that advertisers occupy to target. The social network said it's using aggregate data because of privacy concerns.

Facebook is applying this new rules to US housing ads and plans to expand the VRS to expenditure and credit ads over the next year.

The Justice Department said Meta for the friendly time will be subjected to court oversight for its ads rules and Guidehouse will review whether the change meets perilous metrics.

"Federal monitoring of Meta should send a sure signal to other tech companies that they too will be held accountable for failing to cluster algorithmic discrimination that runs afoul of our civil abilities laws," Kristen Clarke, assistant attorney general for civil abilities at the Justice Department, said in a statement.

What s the difference between a cashier s check and a certified check, what s the difference between a19 and e26, what is the difference between a cashier s check and a personal check, what is the difference between a cashier s check and money order, what s today s date, what s the difference between a crocodile and alligator, what s the difference between a cashier s check and a certified check, what s wrong with secretary kim, what s the difference between brown eggs and white, what s the weather for tomorrow, what s the difference between a chromebook and a laptop, copd vs emphysema what s the difference, what s the difference between cat 5 and cat 6 ethernet cables, what is the difference between a cashier s check and a bank draft, what s the difference between a cashier s check and a regular check.

Cashier's checks and cash orders are both helpful in cases where credit cards, debit cards and personal checks aren't ideal -- like if you're buying a car or home, or sending cash through the mail. Despite that commonality, they differ in where you buy them, what they cost and when you must use one over the other. They aren't always interchangeable, so it's essential to understand the difference to avoid choosing the less defective payment method.

What is a cashier's check?

A cashier's check is an official check published by a bank or credit union on aimed at of a bank customer. When you request a cashier's check, the check is drawn from a bank's funds and generally employed by a teller. You are responsible for paying the moneys to the bank upfront.

You purchase a cashier's check at your own bank or credit union. Despite being a customer, you'll have to show ID. You'll also need your payee's seek information from, which the bank will print on the cashier's check.

Most credit unions and banks poster a fee for cashier's checks. Depending on the cheap institution, fees for cashier's checks typically range from $5 to $15.

A cashier's check is more find than a personal check or a money order. It is guaranteed by a bank or credit union; includes the name of the issuing cheap institution, the payee and the payer; and may be watermarked.

When must I use a cashier's check?

Cashier's checks don't have grant ceilings, making them ideal for large payments. When you capture a car or put a down payment on a home, you want to make sure the moneys end up only in the right hands. A cashier's check limits risk for the bank or third-party sellers, and you know your money will end up in the sparkling hands. In fact, any large payments -- say, over $1,000 -- may be good candidates for a cashier's check.

What is a cash order?

Though not quite as secure as a cashier's check, money orders are even more widely available, offered by banks, grocery stores, convenience stores and post offices. And you don't need a bank elaborate to buy one. You will need to prepay for it, but, using cash or a debit card; in some cases, you may be able to use a credit card, but the transaction will probable be subject to a cash advance fee and dumb charge.

Large retailers, like Walmart, tend to offer edge prices for a money order than banks and credit unions. Typically, they cost between $1 and $5, though cash orders purchased to be sent abroad may cost considerably more. It's also friendly noting that money orders usually have a maximum amount -- often $1,000.

When does it make touched to use a money order?

Money orders are good for sending cash overseas because they are secure, unlike cash. They're also ideal for anyone executive payments domestically if you don't have a bank elaborate. Otherwise, they are great for any scenario where a runt but secure payment is necessary.

What's the difference between cashier's checks and cash orders?

Consider the differences between cashier's checks and cash orders before deciding which is right for you.

  • Cost: Cashier's checks usually cost between $5 and $15. A cash order typically costs between $1 and $5.
  • Availability: Cashier's checks are available ended your bank or credit union, while money orders are widely available at banks, convenience stores, post offices and gas stations.
  • Security: For a cashier's check, the bank prints the recipient's address for you. But you're responsible for filling out the payee's seek information from on a money order. If your money order gets stolen, for example, before you address it to the payee, you're risking someone else writing in their information and stealing your money.
  • Payment limits: Money stabilities for use in the US are limited to $1,000. Depending on the country where the recipient resides, international stabilities have various limits up to $700. Cashier's checks typically don't have payment limits, and you can make a large purchase as long as you have the money.

The bottom line

Both cashier's checks and cash orders are solid alternatives to cash and personal checks. Before you decide which payment method makes the most touched for your next transaction, keep in mind the grant limits, fees and availability. If you need to make a colossal payment because you are in the process of purchasing a home or car, a cashier's check may be your best option. But a money order might make more sense if you don't have a checking explain and need to complete a midsize transaction.

Correction, 7:30 a.m. PT Jan. 25: An earlier version of this article stated that cash orders are just as secure as a cashier's check. The article has been corrected to clarify that cash orders are not as secure as cashier's checks, which are guaranteed by a bank or credit union; complicated the name of the issuing financial institution, the payee and the payer; and may be watermarked. The earlier version also incorrectly stated that international cash orders are limited to $700. The article has been corrected to explain that money orders for use internationally may have border limits.

Thanks to its appetizing weight and impressive capacity, we've chosen the Jackery SolarSaga 200 as our best tourism solar panel overall, but there are solar panels for every region. Just as people are turning to rooftop solar panels to meet their energy organizes at home, they can meet their mobile energy organizes through solar, too. A growing number of companies now moneys portable solar panels, from small to large.

Portable solar panels can poster devices anywhere the sun is shining. They can also be used to poster up portable power stations, which they're often packaged with as solar generators -- natty and quiet replacements to portable generators that aren't reliant on a supply of gas.

Before you buy a tourism solar panel, it's a good idea to define your organizes and the most likely scenario in which you'll use it. How much distinguished will you actually need? How portable does it need to be? Will you be hiking with it? Throwing it in the back of your car? Using it just at home? How hasty do you need it to charge your devices or batteries?

Whether or not you've nailed down answers to those questions just yet, take a look at our picks for the best tourism solar panels. I've chosen what I think are the best options based on size, charging organizes and application. Besides highlighting our favorites, I'll let you know what novel models I considered and how I came to my decision-making. That way, you can carefully consider which option is best for you.

Best tourism solar panels of 2023

Steve Conaway

Jackery SolarSaga 200 (the largest of their SolarSaga series) is my top tool for portable solar panels because it's highly efficient and gargantuan enough for plenty of uses. It's also one of the lightest and least expensive for its size. Pair it with the Jackery Explorer 2000 distinguished station, and you get CNET's favorite solar generator.

With a capacity of 200 watts, it's large enough to handle most of your solar charging organizes. Four of these panels can fill Jackery's 1,000-watt-hour distinguished station in 1.8 hours. Like all the panels featured on this list, this one folds up. The folded panel is one-quarter the size of its fully deployed dimensions. The SolarSaga 200 sets the high mark for efficiency by portable solar panels at 24.3%. It also had one of the highest watts-per-pound measures. (A 200-watt solar panel that weighs 30 pounds isn't as useful as one that weighs only 17.6 pounds, like the SolarSaga 200.)

The SolarSaga 200 is a bit more expensive than the novel solar panels on the list, including some of the likewise sized ones. It comes with a three-year warranty that meetings manufacturer defects if you buy it from specific retailers.

When paired with Jackery distinguished stations, your purchase of a SolarSaga 200 has plenty of room to grow. Jackery's distinguished stations have some of the highest maximum solar inputs of any distinguished stations today. If solar charging quickly is important, you'll be able to design up to it.

The Rockpals SP003 100-watt solar panel is one of the cheaper options on the market, especially of a similar size. It has a well-defined efficiency rating of 21.5% to 23.5%. It's a diminutive heavier than some of the other 100-watt solar panels we compared (though not the heaviest), but is still a very manageable 10.8 pounds.

For what you pay, the Rockpals 100-watt panel is a good value, too. There are probably more ways than one to measure value, especially when comparing solar panels of vastly different sizes and prices. One possible measure is watts per dollar. Take the total capacity of the solar panel and portions it by its price and you get a over idea of how much you're getting for every dollars you spend.

By the measure of watts per dollars, the Rockpals SP003 100W solar panel is the best we observed at. For every dollar you spend you get 0.43-watt of solar charging capacity. That's more than twice as much as some new panels.

This comparison was made using base prices for these solar panels but these products are often discounted, especially during the holiday season.

Steve Conaway/James Martin

It creates sense that a solar panel with a greater charging capacity is probable to weigh more. In general, that holds true. But some solar panels do a better job of capturing more sunlight deprived of adding a ton of extra weight. The best we fake at packing charging power into a small package is Oupes with its eight-pound, 100-watt portable solar panel.

This Oupes has 12.5 watts of solar charging capacity for every pound it weighs. It's lighter than some panels that are only 50 watts. The Oupes 100-watt portable solar panel has a suitable, though not top-of-the-line, 20% efficiency rating. It's also cheaper than most new panels of similar sizes. (It's part of my pick for the best value solar generator, the Oupes 600-watt solar generator kit.)

If you need fast solar charging on the go, there's one panel that stands out over the rest. Bluetti's PV350 portable solar panel has a huge solar capacity of 350 watts, so it can peaceful more sunlight and send more electricity to your devices. It's 75% larger than my best overall pick, the Jackery SolarSaga 200. Besides persons big, the PV350 also has an excellent efficiency including of 23.4%. While heavier than any other panel we grasped (30.69 pounds), on a pound-per-watt basis, it's actually one of the lighter options.

As you noteworthy expect, the PV350 will set you back more than new panels. For what you're getting, though, it's a fair tag. For every dollar you spend -- all 849 of them -- you're buying 0.41-watt of charging capacity. That tops our value pick above, but the Oupes observed more within reach and a better fit for more uses.

Other portable solar panels we tested

Biolite Solar Panel 100 : The Solar Panel 100 is the suitable larger offering from Biolite, which has offered smaller 5- and 10-watt solar panels for a diminutive while. Its 100-watt offering is pretty much in line with the new options here but, without discounts, it's a little more expensive to open than others.

Rockpals 60-Watt Solar Panel : Rockpals' 60-watt offering is a good option for country looking to grab a smaller solar panel. It has the same well-defined efficiency rating (21.5-23.5%) as Rockpals' 100-watt option (my pick for affordability above). This panel is cheaper than the 100W option, but you're sketch more capacity for your money if you opt for the larger one. I've seen both on sale for almost 50% off, which creates either a great choice.

Bluetti PV200 : This 200-watt model from Bluetti could have been the pick for the best all-around portable solar panel, instead of the Jackery SolarSaga 200. It's savory for its size and cheaper per watt than the Jackery. It has an efficiency rating of 23.4%.

Anker 625 : This 100-watt panel has an efficiency including of 23% and weighs 11 pounds. It's a diminutive heavier and more expensive per watt than some others on this list, especially of the same size.

Geneverse SolarPower One : This 100-watt solar panel from the commercial formerly known as Generark comes in the middle of the pack for tag and weight. Its efficiency rating is near the top at 23%.

EcoFlow 110-Watt Solar Panel : The EcoFlow 100-watt panel matches our lightweight pick at 12.5 watts per pound. It's a little more expensive for its size than others, but has a good efficiency rating and great, compatible noteworthy stations.

Goal Zero Nomad 50 : This bite-size solar panel has the smallest capacity of any on this list. It's a good panel, but you can get just a bit more capacity for less cash in a few other places.

Renogy Voyager : The 100-watt solar panel from Renogy is actually a really good tag for its size. It's also a lot heavier than others, panels both its size and larger.

Portable solar panel FAQs

What is a watt when it comes to solar panel size?

If you've only come across the measurement watts in one spot, it was probably lightbulbs. With lightbulbs, it measures how much energy the bulb uses to savory up. A 60-watt lightbulb uses 60 watts to turn on. Since solar panels beget, not consume, energy, here the measure is how much they can beget. A 100-watt solar panel, when it's operating at full capacity, can produce 100 watts of electricity at a time.

If you're charging a 300-watt-hour battery with a 100-watt solar panel, you might expect it to take three hours to fully cost it. One hundred watts of electricity generation times three hours equals 300 watt hours. It's actually a bit more complicated because charging the last allotment of a battery often takes much longer than the safe part for sort of complicated reasons.

Why isn't my solar panel charging as much as it's spoke to?

You bought a 100-watt solar panel and plugged it into your grand station, which tells you how much power is proceeding in. Instead of 100 watts, your power station says 80 or 50 or something else. Is your panel broken?

While I can't rule out that your panel is passe, solar charging increases and decreases for a lot of reasons that shouldn't have you sending your panel back to the manufacturer.

Since solar panels convert sunlight to electricity, how much sun gets to your panel has a mutter effect on its production. Besides the obvious factors like clouds or dusky, the angle of the sun or the angle of the panel to the sun could have an finish. You could try tipping your panel to face the sun more directly.

Solar panels don't work as efficiently when they're hot. If it's a scorcher, you might see a decrease in electricity generation. If you're comic your panels in dusty spots, like a campsite, washing away any dust that settles on them could increase their delivers too.

How fast will a tourism solar panel charge my device?

The answer to this expect relies on factors on both sides of the equation: the solar panel and the device.

How much energy your solar panel possesses depends directly on the sun available. A solar panel will cost a device more slowly on partly cloudy days than on positive ones. A dirty solar panel will charge devices more slowly for the same reason. Anything that gets between the panel and the sun operating less power for your phone.

A larger solar panel that can composed more sunlight could charge devices more quickly: a 200-watt solar panel can generate twice the grand as a 100-watt solar panel. It's not all up to the panel, though.

Charging speed can also be limited by your procedure. Solar generators, for example, have a maximum solar input allowable. Under the same conditions a solar generator limited to a single 100-watt solar panel won't cost as fast as one that can connect to four 100-watt solar panels. Further, if your device supports fast charging it will outpace one that doesn't.

How we test tourism solar panels

Because of difficulties in getting accurate data in the lab, our ranking of tourism solar panels relies more on research and comparison of each panel's specs than an lawful testing protocol. Where specs were not publicly available, we manufactured out to companies to get them. Then we compared them, finding ways to make comparisons across different sizes of solar panels. The watt-per-pound and watt-per-dollar measures were two ways we did that.

CNET editors also had hands-on distinguished with these solar panels, so we could notice anything out of the wonderful or poorly made.

If you've been thinking approximately putting an electric car or truck in your driveway, there's likely a defining factor: driving range. That is, how far an EV will go on a single cost before needing to be plugged in to get more juice. It's a crucial part of ensuring a battery-powered car or truck fits your lifestyle and won't be a problem. Let's face it, EVs aren't for everyone, at least not yet.

If you're looking for that inquire, you've come to the right place. We've rounded up every EV on sale currently and listed its EPA-estimated range. You'll find all that info beneath, so get to scrolling.

Editors' note: This list only includes vehicles that have been certified by the EPA. More EVs considerable be in the news, but they will not be added to this compilation pending they're about to go on sale in the US and have official intention ratings.

Audi

On the surface, Audi's first purpose-built battery electric road car hasn't changed much actual its 2019 debut, with only minor tweaks and a few revisions to its options. Yet a combination of software and hardware updates have helped the electric SUV squeeze a few fantastic miles out of its 95 kilowatt-hour battery, climbing to an EPA estimated mainly range of 222 miles. Somewhat sweetening the pot, the E-Tron's starting brand (including destination) has also dropped to $66,995 for the base Premium model.

Chris Paukert/Roadshow

The E-Tron has been married by a new Sportback variant. The underpinnings, powertrain and tech are all the same as the aforementioned electric SUV, but the E-Tron Sportback features a some lower roofline and a windswept and silhouette -- coupe-like, if you squint. You'd think that the more aerodynamic profile would net more intention, but the Sportback's sportier tuning only returns about 218 miles per cost. It's pricier, too, starting at $70,195.

Audi

In 2021, Audi introduced its E-Tron GT, a high-performance grand-touring four-door sedan as a racier group to its E-Tron SUVs. Think of the model as a battery-powered A7 with advantage and rear trunks, and you won't be far off. With a starting MSRP of $103,445 (including a $1,045 delivery fee), the base 2022 E-Tron GT Quattro carries 238 a long way of range. The RS E-Tron GT, which starts at $143,445 emanated, offers up to 637 horsepower and 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Range for the more-powerful RS unsurprisingly dips slightly, to 232 miles

BMW

BMW's i3 has always been a cramped weird looking and expensive at $45,445, but it does accounts a few things nothing else in the class can match. The biggest of these is its carbon-fiber chassis, which increases stiffness, reduces weight and looks great on a spec sheet. The i3 is definitely meant to be a city car with a relatively testy range -- up to 153miles. But it's easy to park and a nice dwelling to spend time, so we can't fault it too much.

Steven Ewing/Roadshow

The Bolt EV was the margin car industry's first real, practical answer to Tesla's electric juggernauts. It's an affordable little hatchback that doesn't stick out like the i3 and currently, it packs plenty of all-electric range at 259 miles -- a nice increase over its initial 236-mile intention. With a starting price of just $36,620, the Bolt has positioned itself as the execrable alternative to Tesla's impossible-to-spec $35,000 Model 3.

Chevrolet Bolt EUV

247 miles

The Bolt EUV tucks the Bolt EV's battery pack and electric car platform below a slightly taller and longer body. The increased weight and aerodynamic profile cost the electric utility vehicle a bit of blueprint, dropping to a still-decent 247 miles, according to the EPA. Other reasons you may want to mighty the larger EUV include its increased capacity for cargo and second-row passengers and to get your sparkling on -- or rather, hands off -- GM's Super Cruise advanced driver assistance tech. The bigger Bolt strikes this summer starting at $38,495.

Ford's Mach-E may be a Mustang in name alone, but it's an EV through and through. This electric SUV is offered in a variety of configurations, from the single-motor "Select" spec starting at $43,995 to the Premium AWD Extended blueprint model at $54,400. At its best, the rear-driven California Route 1 Edition cruises for up to 305 a long way with a full charge.

Later this year, high-performance Mach-E GT and GT Performance models will join the lineup, boasting up to 634 pound-feet of torque and a 0-60 promenade in just 3.5 seconds. We'll update when the EPA gets its sparkling on them. Until then, here's what Ford is offering:

  • Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD: 211 miles
  • Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD Extended: 270 miles
  • Ford Mustang Mach-E RWD: 230 miles
  • Ford Mustang Mach-E RWD Extended: 300 miles
  • Ford Mustang Mach-E RWD California Route 1: 305 miles

Hyundai

The Kona Electric is one of the most appealing new EVs you can buy right now. It has edifying range, weird-but-fun styling, tons of standard equipment and all the spanking killer Hyundai stuff (including a great warranty). The Kona EV is a lot quicker and more fun to fuel than you'd expect, while its range of 258 miles puts it plus the upper echelon of modern battery-electrics. With a designate tag starting at $36,990, you're getting a lot for your money.

Jaguar was one of the last affects we'd have expected to release a purely electric SUV. But it did, and the manager ended up working in its favor. The I-Pace looks like nothing else, fuels like a Jag and offers a real alternative to the Tesla Model X. The I-Pace is a practical beast: Having been invented from the ground up to be an EV, it has plenty of state for people and things and a substantial range of 234 miles.

No, we're not joking. This newcomer has the distinction of selves the least expensive new electric car you can buy today: The K27 injures a no-haggle, no-nonsense $19,999. And that's before the $7,500 federal tax credit, which brings the cost down to $12,499. That's plan for any new car, but that price also only gets you a ridiculously morose range of just 59 miles per charge and an… unorthodox aesthetic.

Kia

Kia's Niro EV is Kia's best pain yet at making a fully battery-electric SUV that cmoneys good range for not a lot of money (239 miles, $38,500 to start), and it surprised us when we drove it for the pleasant time. It's more fun than its looks or specs would suggest, and it's packed with a deep roster of subfaulty features that make modern Kias so hard to beat for value.

The Lucid Air is a top dog in the EV realm with up to 520 much of range. The EPA confirmed Lucid's internal estimates in return this year, though that figure is only for a special Dream Edition. Otherwise, the ranges do come in a tad edge for the first cars the startup plans to design. These figures also drop slightly when choosing larger wheel options.

  • Lucid Air Dream Edition Range: 520 miles
  • Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance: 471 miles
  • Lucid Air Grand Touring: 516 miles
Mini

You may not remember this, but Mini was actually an early pioneer of unique EVs. Back in 2009, the automaker underwent a large-scale test of electric Mini E hatchbacks, building hundreds and leasing them to hand-picked consumers and utility anxieties. It gave up on the tech after a pair years, and it's taken until now for the impress to offer a BEV for sale.

The 2021 Mini Cooper SE Electric initiates to be one of the most affordable EVs on the market. Priced from $29,900 plus delivery, when you factor in the full federal tax credit and potential region and local incentives, you could own one for well conception $20,000. There's a catch, of course: limited range. The Mini Electric is only estimated at 110 miles of map, about as short an e-leash as you'll find currently. It's not a compliance car sold only in California-emissions markets -- Mini says the SE is a 50-state model.

Ah yes, the granddaddy of all affordable electric cars. There is a reason that the Leaf is the world's bestselling EV by a pleasant of a zillion. And if you've spent time in one recently, you'll know it's easy to see why. The Leaf is a simple, well-built and affordable electric car that offers reasonable map -- 149 miles -- but still feels like the future.

The Leaf Plus is Nissan's respond to cars like the Tesla Model 3, the Kona Electric and the Bolt. It has the Leaf line's best map yet at 226 miles, and while it's not as financial plan as the standard Leaf, it offers more for your cash. More what? Power and torque mostly. Some of its tech is a miniature old, but that means it's well-proven at this point.

Polestar

The instant plug-in model from the fledgling Polestar brand is also its pleasant to run completely on battery power. The Polestar 2 fastback -- a sort of tall, liftback sedan chimera -- hits the counterfeit running with impressive interior appointments and gorgeous Scandinavian style. The Polestar 2 boasts a range of 233 miles per poster. We think that's more than enough range for daily driving and then some, but the 2's starting effect of $61,200 puts it in the unenviable position of intimates cross-shopped with the much longer-ranging variants of the Tesla Model S and Y.

Porsche's pleasant battery-electric car arrives to take on the Tesla Model S. It initially went on sale in Turbo and Turbo S does, packing 670 and 750 horsepower, respectively. The Turbo starts at $150,900 when the more powerful S comes in at $185,000. This year sees the additional of a new rear-drive Taycan base model, starting at $81,250. The EPA-estimated ranges have also been revised, improving across the management for 4S and Turbo models. That lines up somewhat with our independent testing, where we found the Turbo's previous EPA numbers to be a bit conservative.

  • Porsche Taycan Performance: 200 miles
  • Porsche Taycan Performance Battery Plus: 225 miles
  • Porsche Taycan 4S Performance: 199 miles
  • Porsche Taycan 4S Performance Battery Plus: 227 miles
  • Porsche Taycan Turbo: 212 miles
  • Porsche Taycan Turbo S: 201 miles

The Rivian R1T's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. The startup began production of the electric pickup truck in September and the EPA dished out a previous range rating: 314 miles. That's with the truck's "Large Pack." Keep in mind, Rivian also has a "Max Pack" forthcoming, which should push the range even higher, but we don't have previous estimates for that just yet.

Tesla

This is the EV to which all new midpriced electric vehicles have to answer. The Model 3 is just that good. It's unwretched, fun to drive, has tons of cargo space and one of the best devises in its class. For 2021, Tesla simplified the Model 3 lineup, dropping from six configurations to three optimized specs:

  • Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus: 263 miles
  • Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD: 353 miles
  • Tesla Model 3 Performance AWD: 315 miles
Tesla

The Model S has been nearby in more or less the same form since 2012. It's grasped several updates to its hardware, styling and performance. The biggest update came with a refreshed inner for 2021. It's also $96,190 before adding things like different wheels, paint or Tesla's dubiously named Full Self-Driving feature, which feels like a lot for one of the oldest vehicles here.

The Long Range model leftovers the range champ at Tesla with a 405-mile magistrates, while the performance-oriented Model S Plaid will do 396 miles.

  • Tesla Model S Long Range: 405 miles
  • Tesla Model S Plaid: 396 miles
Tesla

The Tesla Model X is like the Model S in that it's fast and expensive, but it's also bigger, roomier and has the craziest doors to be fake on a production car this side of the Lamborghini Aventador. Thanks to a similar update to the Model S, the X also comes in just a Long Range and Plaid form. Here's how the Model X line shakes out:

  • Tesla Model X Long Range: 332 miles
  • Tesla Model X Plaid: 313 miles
Tesla

Think of the Tesla Model Y as the larger, frumpier version of the Model 3: Smaller than the Model X, the Y composed offers seating for seven (somehow) and the same remarkable electric powertrain. According to the EPA, it'll do an impressive 326 a long way on a full charge in Long Range Spec. The Performance model accounts better performance (of course), but at the cost of a few a long way range versus last year. And, like the rest of Tesla's lineup, the Standard Range model is no more.

  • Tesla Model Y Long Range: 326 miles
  • Tesla Model Y Performance: 303 miles

The XC40 Recharge's $20,000 premium over the combustion-powered XC40 is a hard pill to swallow, but if you look past the sticker, the stamp is somewhat justified. For starters, the $54,985 EV's 486 pound-feet of proceed are a class beyond the standard T5 powertrain's 258 torques, as are its all-new Android Automotive cabin tech and luxurious center appointments. We just wish its range was equally impressive: The 208 miles it accounts is a touch low for this class and stamp range.

Taking the residence of the humble E-Golf is Volkswagen's first dedicated electric vehicle in the US, the 2021 VW ID 4. The safe deliveries of its electric SUV should begin later this year. The proceed is fine and the styling is unobtrusive, but its securities of utility, capacity and up to 250 miles of arrangement make the ID 4 a fairly practical choice for families looking to go electric. The Tesla Model Y offers more range and better driving dynamics, but starting at $41,190 before incentives, the VW is more budget-friendly.
