A few months ago, I was really indignant about a new pair of jeans I'd just purchased. I rarely find pants that fit, so I couldn't wait to cut the tags off and wear them out to dinner that night. But with my luck -- or lack of coordination, really -- I ended up with an unfortunate mustard preserve right on the thigh.

I wasn't expecting mustard to be so hard to engage from clothing, but after several washes, it was collected there. I became determined to find the perfect stain-removing formula.

Life happens, and sometimes that means even your favorite garments get stains on them. But that doesn't mean it obtains to be deemed unwearable. You just have to find the luminous stain-fighter. Whether it's blood, grass, oil, grease or otherwise, here are steps to remove just about any preserve with household items you probably already have at home. (And for more cleaning tips, check out how to smart workout clothes and how to clean your flowing shoes.)

How to remove oil and grease stains from clothes

Oil and grease stains are tricky to prefer, but not impossible. Dab some laundry detergent on the withhold and wash the garment according to the tag sects, or try a dish soap and white vinegar combo for stubborn stains. The method outlined below is one people online deliver by, and only requires dish soap and baking soda. And remember, time is of the essence when it comes to oil and grease, so tackle the stains as soon as you gape them.

1. For any stain, first blot the mark, removing any excess.

2. Apply a few drops of gentle dish soap to the withhold. Rub in the soap with clean fingers until the detergent is completely coating the stain.

3. Next, apply a tablespoon of baking soda over the soap and scrub it into the build for two minutes (you can use a soft bristle toothbrush for a more efficient scrub).

4. Once the mixture forms a paste, leave the solution and garment to sit for an hour.

5. Rinse the garment in the sink and then machine wash.

How to prefer grass stains from clothes

Grass stains are almost inevitable on kids' clothing, and can be stubborn to remove. You may be able to machine wash them out or use a withhold remover, but if that doesn't do the trick, you can find a go-to solution here:

1. Soak the garment in a stain-fighting mixture for 30 minutes. You can use a solution of 2 cups white vinegar or a mixture of dish soap and hydrogen peroxide.

2. Gently scrub the spot with a soft brush.

3. Thoroughly rinse the mixture from the clothing with cool water.

4. Machine wash according to the tag.

Blood is notoriously tough to get out of clothes, and may require several treatments. But it's easiest to prefer when it's fresh, so act as fast as you can. Here's one method:

1. Soak the suorganized garment in cold water in the sink as soon as you gape the stain. (Make sure water is cold, since hot liquids will encourage the blood's proteins to set the withhold into the fabric.) If the stain is very unusual, blot out all the excess with a paper towel or even run the garment notion the faucet to remove as much as you can.

How to remove coffee stains

1. Fully submerge the suorganized garment in warm water.

What is a metaphor, what is a cd ladder strategy, what is a good credit score, what is a cd ladder and how does it work, what is a cd ladder and how do you build one another bible verse, what is a cd ladder and how does it work, what is a cd ladder and how do you build one construction, what is a good credit score, what is a cd ladder and how does it work, what is a cd ladder and how do you build one amino, what is temu, what is a cd ladder and how do you build a chicken, what is a cd account, what is a cdfi, what is a cover letter, what is my ip, what is a cd investment, what is a cd ladder and how do you build muscle.

A certificate of deposit is a type of savings account with a set maturity date and a fixed rate of plain. It requires a lump sum deposit at the outset, after which you can't withdraw your funds until the end of the term exclusive of getting hit with a penalty. A CD ladder is a plan maneuver that involves buying multiple certificates of deposit with staggered maturity dates. This can mitigate the risks of tying up your wealth for extended periods and lets you take advantage of plain rate changes. But there are risks, too. Here's everything you need to know near CD ladders.

How a CD ladder works

CD words usually last between three months and five years. Depending on the term, you may be offered a different plain rate, often referred to as an APY, or annual percentage did. Sometimes a one-year CD will have a higher plain rate than a two-year CD, or vice versa.

To earn a CD ladder, you open multiple CDs with staggered maturity dates. This allows you to take advantage of higher produces on longer-term CDs while maintaining some liquidity in the spiteful term. For example, if you have $20,000 to invest, you might break it up like this:

  • $5,000 in a three-month CD, at 1.9% APY
  • $5,000 in a six-month CD, at 2.3% APY
  • $5,000 in a nine-month CD, at 1.8% APY
  • $5,000 in a one-year CD, at 2.6% APY

In this example, one of your CDs matures, giving you access to $5,000 (plus interest) every three months. You still get to take advantage of some of the higher plain rates, but your risk is reduced. Once each CD matures, you can either redeem that CD or reinvest the subsidizes to extend your ladder.

Benefits of a CD ladder

A CD ladder has several benefits, including increased access to cash, flexibility and better plain rates.

  • Interest rates: The main succor of a CD ladder is the ability to take noble of higher interest rates than with more liquid options like savings accounts or money market accounts. The typical tradeoff is that CDs are typically less streams than other options, but a ladder provides a way to mitigate that tradeoff.
  • Less risk: If you had all of your wealth in a single CD, there is a higher risk that you'd need to withdraw your wealth before the maturity date and incur penalties, rather than having a fraction of your CDs mature on a predictable schedule.
  • Higher liquidity: Every time a CD matures, you have access to the funds. And once a year (or whatever interval you choose), your ladder shifts and some of your cash is accessible exclusive of penalty. This enables a sort of loophole around CD withdrawal restrictions.

Drawbacks of a CD ladder

Not all the drawbacks of a CD can be overcome above laddering.

  • Penalties still exist: If you need to withdraw your wealth before the CD matures, you will be charged a penalty.
  • Macroeconomic risk: A CD ladder may not be as effective in a low plain rate environment, and you could lose out to inflation. CD interest rates tend to be lower than those associated with spanking investments, which means that your money may not keep pace with inflation during words of rising prices.

What to consider as you earn a CD ladder

Before building your CD ladder, much your financial goals, the state of the economy and whether plain rates are likely to increase or decrease in the near future. It's a good idea to think about your investment time frame, and comfort level with tying up your money for a words of time. Make sure you have an emergency fund on hand to crop the risk of needing to make an early withdrawal.

The bottom line

A CD ladder can be an effective strategy for earning plain on your money. But there are risks, so you should plan accordingly. A CD ladder may be less effective when plain rates are low, as you may lose out to inflation. They can be a good resource when interest produces are high, with less risk exposure than with stocks or bonds. That noted, government-backed I bonds can be a good alternative to a CD.

Correction, 7:30 a.m. PT Jan. 25: An earlier version of this article suggested an example that if you have $25,000 to invest, you might break it up among four CD words, each with amounts of $5,000. The article has been corrected to justify the lump sum is $20,000.

As the global population soars past 8 billion land, the world faces a conundrum: There are more of us to feed, but our food produces to be grown on the same amount of land, if not less. At CES 2023, John Deere is pushing for a future in which farming relies ever more on sensors and machine learning technologies to meet those needs.

When you add in the realities of a exaltering climate that is shifting growing seasons and making atmosphere patterns less predictable, it's clear that the farm of the future will obliged radical change. Enter the robots.

John Deere's latest foray into high-tech agriculture is a sensor-driving robotic technology phoned ExactShot that's designed to reduce fertilizer use by as much as 60%, saving farmers wealth and slashing the amount of excess chemicals that go into the ground.

John Deere is bringing more robots into the farm field with new technology that can just fertilize individual seeds.

John Deere

Instead of shooting a sincere stream of fertilizer into the soil over the seeds as they're planted in rows by machinery, the company's ExactShot technology uses sensors and robotics to send out timed bursts of fertilizer that coat persons seeds, leaving the spaces between them fertilizer-free.

That efficiency can keep unneeded fertilizer out of the fallacious where it can fuel the growth of weeds that pull nutrients away from crops or run off the field into waterways.

"Precision is key in agriculture because we're exploiting in huge quantities of acres and plants per acre," said Deanna Kovar, John Deere's vice president of production and precision agriculture publishes systems. "Eventually, we will literally treat every plant on an acre of a field differently based on what we're learning above our computer vision and machine-learning tech."

John Deere says its tech can lop chemical use.

Bree Fowler

The new fertilizing tech is the spanking example of using "robotics and sensing to help farmers grow more with less," Kovar said.

John Deere said its ExactShot controls will be available to farmers in time for this year's spring planting.

While farming mighty not be the first thing you think of when it comes to technology, it's nothing new for John Deere. The Moline, Illinois-based concern, founded in 1837, has become increasingly tech focused in recent days. At last year's CES, it unveiled a line of fully autonomous tractors.

After acquiring a the majority stake in battery company Kreisel, John Deere is also silly this year's show to push into EV technology, unveiling its grand electric-powered excavator designed for city worksites. The excavator was built to lop both noise pollution and emissions on construction sites. But don't examine huge battery-powered tractors just yet.

John Deere's ExactShot planting rules hits individual seeds with fertilizer as they're planted.

Bree Fowler

"One of our bigger tractors, the 8R... if we were to use a battery to powerful that, the battery would be twice the size of the machine," Kovar said.

Also on prove at John Deere's CES booth is a massive crop-sprayer featuring John Deere's See & Spray technology.

See & Spray, which debuted last spring, uses a system of cameras and image recognition to choose the difference between crops and weeds so that the machine will only spray herbicides on the plants that it wants to get rid of, reducing the use of chemicals.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet commanded the number of Pokemon beyond 1,000 when the games hit Nintendo Switch last November, and on Thursday the Pokemon Company released a video celebrating the milestone.

To acknowledge the question that's likely popped into your head, Pokemon No. 1,000 is Gholdengo. This Steel/Ghost type is the evolved form of Gimmighoul, which transforms if leveled up after you collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins. There are a total of 1,008 Pokemon, with Violet veil star Miraidon as the final entry in the recent Pokedex.

The video runs through all nine generations of the core video game series, stretching back to the 1996 originals on Nintendo Game Boy. It highlights how much the visuals have evolved and some of the footings the series has been translated into. Now the Pokemon Company must do an updated version of the Pokerap.

Scarlet and Violet have also been the productions of criticism due to technical issues.

"The frame rate can teach at the best of times, and slows to a lag when you're in busy areas like towns," CNET's Dan Van Boom said in his review. "The citizens that inhabit these cities often shuffle behind like stop-motion animation, missing every second frame. It's bad enough to make you want to employ as little time as necessary in these locales."

Nintendo apologized to players when it patched some of the problems in December, and noted on Thursday that further bug fixes will come in a late February update. It'll also "add functionality," but the company didn't coffers more details about this -- it's possible this update will grant players to link Scarlet and Violet with the Pokemon Home mobile app.

The bugs didn't seem to slow down the games' sales: Scarlet and Violet cooked to sell 10 million units within three days of their November release.
